The hair loss is a very important problem especially for males. The most frequent type of hair loss for males is androgenetic hair loss.

There is no way that could ensure growth new hair in the balding areas other than hair transplantation. Hair transplantation is generally done by two techniques: FUE and FUT. In FUT, a strip of skin is removed from area in the back and sides of patient’s head. The donor strip is cut into many individual follicular units. Then grafts are placed to the tiny holes that are opened by the expert.

What is FUE?

In FUE, punch is used to make a small incision in the skin around a follicular unit and to separate it from the tissue one by one. Then the unit is taken from the scalp by micromotor. There occur tiny holes after this operation but they heal seven to ten days.

To place the gathered follicles, tiny recipient sites are opened in the balding area and grafts are transplanted to their place where they will grow. Opening recipient sites and placing the units are same in both techniques. But the appearance of donor area, obtained grafts’ quality and quantity differ.

The Advantage of FUE

People, who want to use their hair short, can prefer FUE because the technique does not leave any linear scar. Also after FUE, patient can return his/her daily life very quickly even if they have very active life.

The opening of recipient sites and the placing of grafts are the same in both FUE and FUT. The difference is in the type of incision made. In FUE there is no visible scar at donor area. But in FUT there is one single and long incision. But during FUE operation, no hairy skin is extracted. Therefore in FUE method, no edema and swelling occurs (unlike FUT method.)

Most important advantage of FUE is the natural appearance because in FUE hair is transplanted in natural hair growth direction and there is no visible scar. By this way the appearance that looks unnatural will be precluded.

In FUE generally one session is enough to have a successful operation. But if the bald area is so wide, second session can be needed.

Hair Growth after Hair Transplant

After transplantation, generally in 7-10 days head skin scabs fall. After one month almost all transplanted hair fall. Nothing is seen in the first 3 months. After 3 months the hair starts to grow slowly. Approximately after 6 months % 60-70, 9 months 90% and after one year, all of the result will be seen.
